Q: Aren't Senior Portraits "just for girls"?

A: Nope. Senior portraits are just as important for senior guys. Please click on the link (below) to read more!

Q: How long is a typical senior session?

A: At the risk of sounding cliche, there isn't really a "typical" session. Each one is tailored to each individual we photograph. The length of a session depends on a lot of factors (the number of locations you want to photograph at, the size of the wardrobe you're bringing along, the number of props you have to work with, and even the weather). In the past, our sessions have lasted anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours. It might come as a surprise, but having your portrait taken can be tiring, and often our subjects wear out before we do.

Q: What should I wear?

A: We want to capture your personality, so bring along several clothing options that express YOU. Our senior ladies often bring a pair of jeans or two, 4 tops, a formal dress and unlimited shoes and accessories. ;) The fellas generally opt for a pair of jeans and 2-3 shirts, as well as a more formal shirt. If you want a few more "formal" photos, feel free to bring along some dressier attire. We love to juxtapose the dressy with an unconventional location. :) One way to stretch your wardrobe is to layer it. If you have a favorite shirt, we can take some photos in that, and then add on your letter jacket, and we'll have a different look with little effort. We also encourage you to bring any items that might add to your photos. If you're an athlete, bring your letter jacket or some sporting equipment.

Q: How soon will our proofs be ready?

A: About two weeks after your session, you and your parents will visit our proofing location to view your photos.

Q: What's the benefit of in-studio proofing?

A: This is one of the areas we've evolved in the last few years. In 2010, we began proofing your photos 2 weeks following your session. In our proofing session, we will project the image on a large screen to help you narrow down your favorites. We will then assist you in selecting the best sizes/means of displaying your favorite art. This significantly speeds up the process for you, which means your awesome photos will be on your walls and in your friends' wallets sooner.

Q: What sort of products do you offer?

A: The sky is truly the limit for our product offerings! We offer professional prints, framed prints, canvas gallery wraps, proof boxes and memory albums. Please contact the studio for a complete listing.

Q: Why should I bring a friend or parent to my session?

A: It's a great idea to have a friend or parent along for several reasons. 1. To assist with wardrobe changes if necessary (we work on location, so it's nice to have someone you know hold a blanket if you want a little more privacy while you change.

 2. On occasion we'll need someone to hold a light for us ... moms are especially good at this task. :)

 3. Sometimes people get nervous, so it's a good idea to have someone along who can help you shake off any nervousness you might have.

4. (This is honest to goodness true) ... Since we work on location, we don't always have control of the situation around us. During one session, Karen had two very friendly (and VERY WET) black labs interrupt the session. While they posed no danger, they wanted to jump all over photographer and senior ... it was fantastic to have mom handy to shoo the dripping wet dogs away!

Q: When is the best time of year to have my senior portraits taken?

A: Honestly, the sooner the better. If you would like to have these portraits for your yearbook, it is best to have your portrait session done the summer BEFORE your senior year. It seems early, but once senior year gets into full swing, there never seems to be enough hours in the day. We can still work in sessions through the fall. Because we shoot on-location, as the weather cools, so will our photographing conditions. If you would like to have a session in the snow, we can do so, but if you would like to have more temperate weather, we suggest summer, September, October, maybe even early November, or April. We also photograph weddings, and the spring is a busy time for us. If you wait until last minute, there is no guarantee we can fit you into a weekend session slot.
